VPS for WordPress
Self-hosted WordPress with your own stack, caching and full control
Why that many
WordPress lives and dies by memory, not cores. PHP-FPM keeps a pool of workers in RAM and MySQL wants a buffer for its indexes; when either runs short the site does not slow down gracefully, it returns a memory error. A single cached site is comfortable on one core and two gigabytes; the load grows not with visitors but with plugins, an uncached WooCommerce cart and the admin dashboard. Object caching with Redis and a page cache do more for speed than an extra core
disk from 25 GB
One WordPress site with page caching, database on the same server
disk from 40 GB
WooCommerce or real traffic, Redis object cache, room for spikes
disk from 60 GB
Several sites, a staging copy, image processing without a CDN
- Whether there is a control panel or you set up the LEMP stack by hand
- That you can choose the PHP version and enable OPcache and Redis
- How much a dedicated IPv4 and an SSL certificate cost for your domain
- The renewal price and how backups are billed, per gigabyte or included

Common questions about a wordpress
Is a VPS better than managed WordPress hosting
It is cheaper and more flexible, but the maintenance is yours: updates, security and backups. Managed hosting hides all of that for a higher price. For one simple blog, managed hosting is often the calmer choice; for several sites, a custom stack or WooCommerce, a VPS costs less and gives you control over caching and PHP limits
How much RAM does WooCommerce need
More than a content site. A store keeps sessions, a cart and uncacheable checkout pages, so two gigabytes is the floor and four is comfortable once you have real orders and a few extensions. The database also grows faster, so leave headroom for MySQL rather than sizing to today’s catalogue
